On the night of Monday 12 May, our guide Craig Round, whilst with Speyside Wildlife guests, was lucky enough to get a rare sighting of a Scottish Wildcat at our hide! Craig described the event … "I had deliberately not illuminated the back of the hide to increase our chances of getting a Pine Marten. Whilst checking the infra red camera monitor I saw a Wildcat (which looked pukka, large sized dark cat, hooped tail just visible) walk across at the rear of the hide from the direction of the rear of the cottage garden, and obviously following the badger trail just behind the bird table and down into the gully. I then picked up the cat again as it climbed out of the gully and up the bank, following the path regularly taken by Pine Martens entering towards the hide and when they leave. Not suprisingly there were no Pine Marten sightings!!“
